Chat and calls, comingIn closed testing

Chats and calls only the people in them can read.

KolChat is the messenger being prepared for KolHive. Text, voice notes, photos and files are encrypted on your device before they are sent, and voice and video calls go from device to device, encrypted end to end. The encryption follows the Signal protocol design and has not had an independent audit yet. KolChat is not public yet; it will use the same account as KolHive and KolWrite.

The desktop in the demo, with sample data.

End to end

Messages and calls are encrypted on your device.

Groups and channels

Groups of up to 1,024 people, communities and channels.

Meetings from a link

Up to 100 people, joining from the app or a browser.

AI on your terms

Search runs on the device; answers use the AI you pick.

What the server can and cannot see

A messenger is only as private as what its server can read, so KolChat states it plainly.

Never

Message text, photos, files, voice notes, call audio and video, meeting transcripts and your encryption keys.

To deliver messages

Who you talk to and when, group names, photos and members, and your devices' IP addresses.

Signal protocol design

The encryption follows the Signal protocol design. It has not been independently audited yet, and we say so.

One account

Sign in with the same account you use for KolHive and KolWrite.

Meetings, search and AI

The parts that usually need a server, designed to keep your words on your device.

Record and transcribe

Turn on Record and transcribe in a meeting, and the transcript is made on your device.

AI meeting notes

Decisions and action items from the meeting, as a cloud extra that uses AI credits.

Search by meaning

Search runs on your device and finds a message by what it meant, also across languages.

Answers you control

With an AI on your own computer everything stays on the device; with another provider, the chosen messages are sent only after you tap Send.

What you can use today, and what is coming

Available now

  • Nothing to install yet: KolChat is not publicly released.

Coming

  • KolChat inside KolHive and as its own app, as each platform is released.

How a message stays private

  1. Your device encrypts it

The message is encrypted on your device before it leaves.

  2. The server passes it on

It delivers encrypted messages it cannot open.

  3. Their device decrypts it

Only the people in the chat can read it.

  4. AI only when you say so

Search runs locally; a cloud AI sees chosen messages only after you tap Send.

Questions and answers

Is KolChat end-to-end encrypted?

Yes. Messages, files, voice notes and calls are encrypted end to end. The design follows the Signal protocol and has not had an independent audit yet.

Can I use KolChat now?

Not yet. KolChat is not publicly released; it is being prepared for KolHive, which is in closed testing.

Can the AI read my chats?

Only when you ask. Search runs on your device, an AI on your own computer keeps everything there, and another provider receives the messages you chose only after you tap Send.

How many people can join a meeting?

Up to 100, from the app or from a link in a browser.
